Silver Jubilee Event - May, 2022

Dear Friends and Devotees, for the month of May, the second month of our Silver Jubilee Year Celebration, we will have two very special visiting sadhus: Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana from Sri Sarada Math, Dakshineswar, and Swami Sarvapriyananda from the Vedanta Society of New York. Prabuddhapranaji will give the Sunday lecture on May 15 and Swami Sarvapriyananda will conduct a Memorial Day Weekend Retreat on May 29 and 30 on "Vedanta in the Twenty-first Century." All other classes and programs will continue on Zoom and YouTube as before, but we encourage all who are fully vaccinated to come in person if possible.

Update (5/18/22)

Since our last email about the Memorial Day Weekend Retreat with Swami Sarvapriyananda, the situation regarding the Covid pandemic has, unfortunately, gotten worse rather than better. As a result we have made a few important changes to the retreat:

  • In addition to being fully vaccinated, we are requesting all devotees to remain masked while in any public space throughout the weekend..

  • The lunch for Sunday, May 29, will be boxed so that devotees can carry it with them and, if the weather is nice, find a quiet place outside to eat.

  • Sunday night dinner and Monday lunch will be cancelled.

We apologize for these late changes, but hope everyone will understand that we are trying to follow the latest guidelines and ensure the health of all of us.

  • Swami Sarvapriyananda

    Swami Sarvapriyananda is the Minister and spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of New York since January 2017. He joined the Ramakrishna Math in 1994 and received Sannyasa (final monastic vows) in 2004. He has served as an acharya (teacher) of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math, India. He has also served in various capacities in different educational institutes of the Ramakrishna Mission in India and as the Assistant Minister of the Vedanta Society of Southern California. He was a Nagral Fellow at the Harvard Divinity School in 2019-20.

  • Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana

    Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana is American-born and a senior sannyasini of Sri Sarada Math. She has authored a number of books including Tantine: the Life of Josephine MacLeod, Friend of Swami Vivekananda; and Saint Sara: The Life of Sara Chapman Bull, the American Mother of Swami Vivekananda.
